Advanced Communication and Tracking:
Harnessing Iridium SBD for Global Connectivity and Safety
Monitor your vehicle or off-grid engine/generator with SAE J1939 interface (position, speed, engine hours, oil/coolant temperature) anywhere in the world. Remote start/shutoff.
Affordable and compliant regulatory or fleet vessel monitoring system (VMS) and catch reporting with global coverage and easy to use interface (web/tablet). North Atlantic Format
Monitor supported off-grid energy storage systems. Current support includes WATTIUS™ (CAN) and Victron™ (CAN or VE.Direct) equipment. Victron™ VRM portal support for site monitoring.
Monitor your pleasure vessel's system and environment from any location (wind, speed, course, depth, position). NMEA 2000™ and CAN systems supported.
Using Iridium's truly global Satellite network and satlog.io technology data logging can be done reliably and cost-efficient from anywhere on the globe.
With flexible I/O options (CAN, NMEA 2000, J1939, UART/RS232) and a robust platform most any equipment can be connected with no or minimal integration work.
Onboard power relay (3A 30VDC) enables remote start/shut-off world-wide for a range of equipment like generators or pumps.

For the simplest install, just plug the satlog.io device to the back of your BMV monitor using a VE.Direct cable and place the device outside with a clear view of the sky. Register the device on the VRM Portal and you will see data uploaded every 4 hours (data points are each hour).
After receiving your device, please follow the Getting Started Guide to connect your device to your installation and get online. Contact [email protected] for any questions or assistance!
The satlog.io device is 118x67x41 mm (150mm with the mounting flanges). (4.625"x2.625"x1.575")
The satlog.io device is meant to be sitting outside in all weather conditions but should not be submerged over time. The waterproof ratings are NEMA 1, 2, 3, 3R, 3RX, 3S, 3SX, 3X, 4, 4X, 5, 6, 6P, 12 & 13 rated (IP65, IP66, IP67 & IP68).
Iridium SBD is based on small bursts of data, a proprietary binary protocol is used to pack the data very efficiently. This is unpacked before forwarded to your service. A payload can be up to 340 bytes long.
A typical application is 100 bytes with hourly data uploaded every 4 hours.
Upload data and interval can be tailored to most applications and budgets. Airtime will increase with increased data interval & size.
In a typical application the airtime fee will compete with LTE data charges, for hourly energy monitoring (Victron system) the airtime will cost $29/month.
Yes, absolutely! As long as your system is able to output data over UART, or has a CAN bus with a known protocol we can adapt the device to your data. Contact us so we can learn more about your project!
If you connect the satlog.io device to any Victron system using CAN or a VE.Direct cable all you have to do is to register the gateway on the Victron VRM Portal and you'll see your data like it was uploaded using a LTE gateway or WiFi.
Definitely not, anyone can install the satlog.io device in minutes. Connect USB for power, place the device with a clear view of the sky and you're good to go. You can screw the device down using the mounting tabs, or use zipties to fix it to any surface that will be mostly flat giving the device a clear view of the sky above.
The device comes with a small IO board for inside placement, this is where you connect your CAN network or UART device. Only 1 (included) cable (Ethernet cable so easy to cut and terminate if necessary) goes outside with power and data to the unit.
No, the satlog.io device has built-in GPS support (as well as Glonass and Galileo) and should find its location anywhere in the world.
The satlog.io device has all the antennas you need built-in and securely placed inside the enclosure.
The satlog.io device requires a clear view of the sky, similar to a GPS receiver. It has been tested with success on the inside of a hatch or window, but the more sky and horizon it can see the better it will perform.
For now please contact Sales or buy a Sample Bundle using the link in the top menu and we can discuss your data & logging needs.
Absolutely, just contact us and we will put your monthly service fees on hold for as long as you need to. Monthly fees are not pro-rated.
Definitely, the satlog.io middleware supports most HTTPS based API backends, contact us for documentation on how to receive the data.
The electronics are manufactured in China. The enclosure is made in the US and all design and assembly is done in Norway.
